Celebrating WNY Local Farmer’s Markets Every Friday
Despite the nasty weather, great things are coming to Western New York. Farmer’s Markets- simply the best place to buy fruits and veggies. Farmer’s Markets usually offer a superior quality product, at a fair price and minimally processed. By shopping at these markets we are supporting local farmers, and protecting the environment (shorter transport/lower cost). When you buy local you know what you are getting. Eating local and seasonal makes so much sense. At a Farmer’s Market you have the opportunity to walk, talk and connect with the community. Cash, food stamps (SNAP) and credit cards are usually accepted. Farmer’s Markets not only offer a great variety (such as heirloom tomatoes) but are located all over WNY so there is probably one near you. Along with fruits and veggies, baked goods, fresh roasted coffee, flowers, specialty foods, local wines, meats and cheeses are among the many local products that can be purchased.
Every Friday we will be highlighting one of the many local Farmer’s Markets that we visit and provide you with a sampling of the local farmers and vendors involved and the products they offer. We’ll let you know where they are located, what days and times they are open and then you can check it out. Let us know which are your favorites.
